Iwan Pasuchin

Senior Lecturer for New Media Department Music Education Salzburg

Iwan Pasuchin studied composition, earned a doctorate in education (second subject: communication studies) and habilitated in cultural and media education. Since 2022, he has been a professor of cultural and media education at the IU-International University. He also teaches at the MediaLab of the Mozarteum University Salzburg, which he established in 2001 together with two colleagues and where he conducted several (also third-party funded) research projects.

At the intersection of media education, artistic and cultural education, and socio-political engagement, Pasuchin is also active at various other universities and (art) colleges in Austria and Germany as a guest lecturer as well as a speaker. On these topics, he has published nearly 50 professional articles (some of them peer-reviewed), four monographs, and edited two edited volumes.

Parallel to his university and scientific activities, Pasuchin held numerous cultural-media pedagogical workshops under the title "WeTube / Denen zeigen wir's!" at schools throughout Austria as well as in the context of training and continuing education for teachers, the results of which received several awards. Based on this, Pasuchin designed the subject "Creative Media Design", which he taught at a secondary school from 2011 to 2022. Within this framework, the research project "schnitt # stellen" was carried out, which, among other things, received the main prize in the category "Young Creatives" at the Prix Ars Electronica 2020.
