Foreword
"University must master the art of living tradition and change in equal measure, ensuring continuity and quality assurance as well as development and the opening up of new subject areas
and tasks. Large, outstanding events in the academic year 2017/18 presented the University Mozarteum as an institution that understands how to cultivate the cultural heritage of Europe in a lively and multifaceted way. With the International Mozart Competition 2018, dazzling music theater performances, remarkable competition successes, with the Bella Musica project as cultural ambassador Europe, but also numerous great concerts many musical highlights could be celebrated, highly talented students from all over the world conquered stage and audience with their art.
Equally exciting and sensational the award-winning theater productions of the Thomas Bernhard Institute, which continually turn to current challenges and new formats, or the international community project of Gregor Neuerer, who was able to work and exhibit with his photography class for a week in New York in May 2018. Science & Art, the joint institution of the University Mozarteum and the Paris Lodron University Salzburg, is positively evaluated summer 2018, the latest edition of "klang-reden" succeeds a remarkable collection of texts around the history of interpretation "On the beautiful blue Danube". With the reconstitution of the University Council as of March 1, 2018, and a freshly appointed Rectorate as of April 1, 2018, a new chapter in the University s history is opened. The governing bodies adopt a development plan for the years 2019 to 2024 that sets new accents for the university: Digital media competence is positioned as a central focus, an ambitious project is dedicated to the immanent focus Mozart, and the Salzburg site is given a new significance . At the Innsbruck location, a great building project is successfully completed: At the end of the 2017/18 academic year the Department of Music Education Innsbruck moves into the newly built HAUS DER MUSIK."

As a continuation of the annual reports published since 1881, the Almanac has been published by Hollitzer Verlag since the 2010/11 academic year on the initiative of the then Vice-Rector Wolfgang Gratzer. Since 2014/15, the director of the Art ARCHIVE Room, Susanne Prucher, has acted as editori. Between 2000 and 2010, no annual reports were published, as the Mozarteum University reported directly to the Ministry during this period.
