Elias Praxmarer's work is characterised equally by his artistic work as a performer and his compositional and music theory activities. He regularly performs as a soloist and chamber music partner at home and abroad, including on historically significant organs in Austria, Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland, Sweden and the Czech Republic.

His sacred and secular compositions have been performed in numerous European countries. Composition commissions have been received from the Bavarian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Tyrol Easter Festival/musikplus, the Steudltenn Theatre Festival, the Zentaur Quartet Munich, the Innstrumenti Chamber Orchestra, the Sonarkraft Orchestra and the Orchestra of the St. Blasius Academy, among others. Most recently, he has composed works for the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Abendmusiken in Freiberg Cathedral, the Holland Organ Festival, St Mary's Church in Dortmund, St Michael's Church in Hamburg and the Vasa Church in Gothenburg.

He has received several scholarships and awards for his artistic work. In 2019 he was a finalist in the International Composition Competition of the Brucknerhaus Linz and in 2020 in the competition for the Gasteig Culture Prize in Munich. He was also honoured with the composition scholarship of the state capital Innsbruck (Hilde-Zach scholarship) and the Richard Wagner scholarship. He won the 1st sponsorship prize of the ‘Tyrolean Composers’ Competition’, as well as first prize at the renowned International Composition Competition for Organ in Saarlouis in 2023 out of 50 participants from 20 countries, making him the youngest prizewinner in the competition's history.

Elias Praxmarer completed his studies at the Tyrolean State Conservatory, at the Mozarteum University Salzburg (Innsbruck branch) and at the University of Music and Theatre in Munich. His most influential teachers included Bernhard Haas, Franz Baur, Michael Schöch, Klemens Vereno, Sebastian Euler, Annette Seiler and Andreas Liebig. He received further impetus and inspiration from lessons with Wolfgang Zerer, Pieter van Dijk, Bernard Foccroulle and Maurizio Croci.

Elias Praxmarer has been the collegiate organist at the Cistercian Abbey of Stams since 2018. Together with Hannes Torggler, he is the initiator and artistic director of stift stams sakral- Festival ORGEL PLUS. Since 2020, he has represented the city of Innsbruck as Artistic Director at the European Cities of Historical Organs (ECHO) in Brussels. In 2021, he also took over the management of the International Paul Hofhaimer Organ Competition in Innsbruck together with Michael Schöch.
