What (currently) occupies us. What we are thinking about. What we discard. What sticks. What we process and how; giving form and space. Me: in relation to the chosen material, to us, to the world.

With works by:

  • Anna* Marina Ernst
  • Melina Harting
  • Mirjam Kämmerer
  • Sophia Kraus
  • Leonie Lindinger
  • Vanessa Veljković

Works of art often appear self-sufficient and self-contained in exhibition spaces. Yet, comparable to mushrooms or fruits, they are actually punctual inflorescences of a widely ramified network from which they emerge. This ‘actual living being’ behind the visible artistic form is a process of the artist that cannot be clearly defined in terms of time. ‘This is what's on my mind at the moment’, the artwork announces, often signifying only one stage in this proliferating process and not its end. The problem, the question, the challenge, the feeling that provided the impetus often continues to occupy the person afterwards. Perhaps the work of art turns out to be a less than adequate form of expression. Perhaps it forms the prelude to a series.

Under the title ‘currently considering’, six art students illuminate their artistic works as manifestations of ongoing confrontations, thus demonstrating that studying art is far more than developing technical skills and visual languages, namely a sphere of reflection that brings together personal, social and aesthetic issues, thereby dissolving the boundaries between cognitive and intuitive modes of enquiry.
