Awards & Successes
For his artistic-music-pedagogical project "voice & piano" Reinhard Blum, lecturer at the Department of Music Education Innsbruck, was nominated together with Christian Kraler (University of Innsbruck) for the shortlist of the Ars Docendi State Prize for Excellent Teaching 2019 in the category "Research-related or art-guided teaching".
The award ceremony, which was also attended by Vice Rector Mario Kostal, took place on June 24, 2019 in a festive setting at the Aula der Wissenschaften in Vienna in the presence of Federal Minister for Education, Science and Research Iris Eliisa Rauskala. The Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research has awarded the "Ars Docendi" State Prize for outstanding teaching achievements and teaching concepts annually since 2013. In 2019, there were 131 submissions from 44 Austrian universities in the total of 5 categories. All submissions are reviewed by an international jury of experts. The selection of the best entries in each category makes it to the final shortlist. These will be presented and awarded at the event, with one project per category receiving the Ars Docendi. The prizes were awarded for the seventh time in 2019 and are the only nationwide award for outstanding teaching achievements at universities, private universities, universities of applied sciences and teacher training colleges. The project "voice & piano" represents a learning/teaching concept for teaching self-accompanied singing on the piano with special consideration of heterogeneous musical prerequisites and predispositions of (teaching) students.
