The opening concert featured protestant church music, under the direction of Jörn Andresen, which was followed by music for Passiontide: Boccherini and Haydn string quartets (for expanded ensemble) led Sierra Vázquez. The second day saw the performance of Mahler's 4th Symphony (with Ildikó Raimondi and Chungki Min, among others) as well as works by Bach, Piazolla, Minsky and Morricone under the baton of Giovanni Gnocchi. Alfredo Bernardini, Florian Birsak, Vittorio Ghielmi, Marcello Gatti, Dorothee Oberlinger and students of the Department for Early Music staged a brilliant closing concert with works by Georg Philipp Telemann. The festival culminated in a Liederabend, given by performers including Juliane Banse, which set the hearts of Schumann fans racing.
