Decapitation

The book and the subsequent exhibition stem from a formative experience at the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum in Phnom Penh. The author recalled how, 50 years ago, his father had spoken briefly about his experiences in an internment camp in communist Yugoslavia, describing the methods of torture and mentioning with gratitude a woman, a stranger to him, who had courageously intervened when a hate-filled mob was about to beat him to death.
