Bozhana Pavlova successfully combines solo and chamber music concert performances in renowned halls around the world with active pedagogical work. She is laureate of a number of prizes from international competitions and received awards for high artistic achievements from the Ministry of Education, Art and Culture in Austria and the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture. She completed two studies in Vienna – „Concert guitar“ at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna and „Instrumental pedagogy“ at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. Afterwards she received her doctorate in her home country. From 2024 she is a university professor at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg.
Bozhana Pavlova was born in Bulgaria. In 2024 she was appointed as a university professor at the University Mozarteum in Salzburg and since 2017 she has been teaching at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna. As a concert guitarist she has performed in renowned halls like Wiener Konzerthaus, Ehrbar-Hall, Bulgaria Hall and numerous countries – Austria, Hungary, Italy, the United Kingdom, Poland, Albania, Romania, Slovakia, Bulgaria. In Asia she has given concerts in 13 of the most significant theatre halls in China like Chongqing Grand Theatre, Qingdao Grand Theatre, Hefei Grand Theatre, Wuxi Grand Theatre, as well as in Thailand. She has been invited as a guest professor at Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music in Bangkok, Thailand; Conservatorio di Musica ‘‘Luiggi Boccherini’’ in Lucca, Italy; Academy of Music ‘‘Stanisław Moniuszko’’ in Gdańsk, Poland; National Academy of Music in Cluj-Napoca, Romania and has been also teaching at Johann-Joseph-Fux Conservatory in Graz. As a passionate chamber music performer, she is founder of Vienna Duo and Guitar Duo Artistic.
Bozhana received grants for high artistic achievements from the Ministry of Culture of Bulgaria; Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna, ‘‘STARTStipendium’’ for talented young musicians by the Austrian Ministry for Education, Art and Culture. In 2016 she became an awardee of SYLFF Tokyo Foundation, which supports exceptional young talents. Her recordings have been broadcasted by the Austrian national televisions ORF1, ORF2, the Bulgarian national radio and television BNR and BNT1, Radio Stephansdom. Bozhana is an active member of the organisation team of Forum Gitarre Wien.
After graduating with excellence the National Music School "Ljubomir Pipkov" in Sofia with Prof. Stolina Dobreva, she continued studying until obtaining her Masters’ degree at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna in the class of Univ.-Prof. Mag. ArtD. Jorgos Panetsos. Furthermore, she completed her studies in pedagogy at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna with em.o.Univ.Prof. Walter Würdinger and Univ.-Prof. Adriano Del Sal. In 2019 she graduated with a PhD degree at the New Bulgarian University (Prof. Dr. Panayot Panayotov). She is a laureate of a number of competitions in Germany, Italy, Bulgaria, Romania, Montenegro, Croatia and others. She attended master classes of David Russell, Carlo Marchione, Marcin Dylla, Aniello Desiderio, Hopkinson Smith, Dale Kavanagh and many others.
Bozhana is sharing her professional experience with students also while giving master classes at international festivals such as Forum Gitarre Wien, Albania Guitar Festival, Sofia Classical Guitar Days, Pleven Guitar Festival, Green Graz Guitar Festival etc.
