Benjamin Kammerer
The pianist Benjamin Kammerer has been a university professor for piano & piano didactics at the University Mozarteum in Innsbruck since 2018. He is particularly interested in new and contemporary music, so his concert programs regularly include works by Jörg Widmann, Thomas Larcher, Eric Tanguy, Daniel Schnyder, Gérard Zinsstag, Alfred Schnittke, Olivier Messiaen and György Kurtág in addition to the classical repertoire.
Benjamin Kammerer completed his piano studies in Germany and the USA with Sontraud Speidel, Felix Gottlieb, Emile Naoumoff and with Menahem Pressler (Beaux Arts Trio). He gained important insights into song accompaniment in Berlin while studying with Wolfram Rieger. Master classes enabled him to exchange ideas with distinguished piano teachers such as Oxana Yablonskaya, Mikhail Voskressensky, Dimitri Alexejev, Stanislav Pochekin and Boris Petrushansky. The winner of several international piano and chamber music competitions, he is an enthusiastic chamber musician and has been a chamber music partner with violinist Frederieke Saejs, clarinetist Miguel Pérez Iñesta and pianist Francesco Piemontesi, and performs regularly with members of the Gémeaux Quartet and the Galatea Quartet, as well as with the singer Georg Gädker . He has been to festivals such as the Heidelberger Frühling, the Mecklenburg Vorpommern Festival, the Montebello Festival in Switzerland, the Festival Internacional de Música in Gijón (Spain) and in piano recitals and chamber music formations in England, France, Italy, Central Asia and China and guest in the USA.
In 2007 Benjamin Kammerer began teaching as an Associate Instructor at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN, USA and in 2009 at the Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts. From 2012 to 2018 he taught at the music school in Bern, and since 2018 at the Mozarteum University.
