Carlos Goikoetxea has been a lecturer at the Mozarteum University since 2019 and teaches historical performance practice and early music. From 2021 to 2022 he was lecturer for fortepiano at the MUK Vienna, in 2024 he was appointed professor for fortepiano at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. He has won numerous first prizes at competitions and has made recordings for CD, radio, television, film and documentaries.
Carlos Goikoetxea was born in Spain in 1991. At the age of 11, he played his first piano solo recital and his first concerto as a soloist with orchestra. He made his first appearance abroad in the same year at the Steinway Festival in the Musikhalle Hamburg. Since then, he has performed throughout Europe. A versatile musician, he performs on the piano, fortepiano and harpsichord not only as a soloist, but also as a chamber musician, continuo player, Lied accompanist, orchestra and ensemble leader.
After completing his bachelor's degree in piano in Salamanca, Goikoetxea studied piano with Imre Rohmann, fortepiano and harpsichord with Wolfgang Brunner and historical performance practice with Reinhard Goebel at Mozarteum University Salzburg.
