The artists' collective gold extra (Reinhold Bidner, Tobias Hammerle, Georg Hobmeier, Sonja Prlić, Karl Zechenter) receives this year's International Main Prize for Art and Culture of the Cultural Fund of the City of Salzburg.
The group works - based in Salzburg and internationally present and awarded many times - at the interfaces of art, artistic research and the connection of art and socio-political topics. The focus in this innovative interweaving of art and science is on new media and new forms in the field of digital games. Sonja Prlić (Senior Scientist and Co-Director at IE Science and Art, Program Area Contemporary Art and Cultural Production) and Karl Zechenter from gold extra both teach at the Department of Fine Arts & Design, together with Iwan Pasuchin (Lecturer in New Media) they also lead the research project schnitt # stellen, in collaboration with the MediaLab of the University Mozarteum Salzburg.
