2020 marked the 125th anniversary of the birth of Carl Orff (10.7.1895-29.3.1982). His stage work "Carmina Burana" is internationally known, as are his music educational approach and the percussion instruments named after him. His concept of elementary music is about initiating creative music making from the beginning and thinking musical learning from improvisation.

The 125th anniversary of his birth provides an opportunity to examine Carl Orff's pioneering work and his impulses for today's elementary music and dance education from an artistic and scientific perspective. we have successfully concluded our lecture series "Carl Orff - Facets of his artistic-pedagogical work". From March to June 2021, we were privileged to hear lectures on selected topics related to Carl Orff's compositional work and his impulses for music education. Info about the anniversary weekend
02. - 04 July 2021 Ceremony on Friday evening: Tempus est iocundum "Joyful is the time" (Carmina Burana) was the motto with which the anniversaries (125 years Carl Orff, 100 years Wilhelm Keller, 60 years Orff Institute) were celebrated. In a panel discussion and in artistic performances by students and teachers of the Orff Institute, an approach to Orff's conceptions and contemporary adaptations took place. Program on Saturday and Sunday In addition, workshops and performances for children and adults throughout the weekend addressed the comprehensive compositional and pedagogical work of Carl Orff and Wilhelm Keller as well as their updates. Theoretical and practical impulses for a musical-dance work in social diversity and inclusion formed the focus here.
