Modern redesign of the canteen at Mirabellplatz 1
Start of the redesign of the canteen of the Mozarteum University: The new canteen will be opened at the start of the semester with a well thought-out furnishing concept, regionally produced units, simple and high-quality materials and a modern character. A new name for the cafeteria is being sought through a community vote.
Modernization of the refectory
August 14 - October 1, 2023
Reopening of the refectory
October 2, 2023
Gentle redesign and visual enhancement: these are the requirements for the modernization of the refectory at Mirabellplatz 1. With Österreichische Mensen Betriebsgesellschaft mbH moving in in October 2021, work was done on a concept that on the one hand makes the space as a refectory attractive, cozy and inviting for students, teachers, researchers and staff*, and on the other hand supports the catering industry in being able to work in optimal surroundings.
The new cafeteria is also intended to be a place to linger in the future between courses and events, study and leisure. The highlight will be a small stage that can be used for presentations, performances or simply to get the best overview over coffee and cake. More space, more openness, more light: the interplay of different materials creates the new design between plants, mirrored surfaces and high-quality furniture.
The AREA planning office is responsible for the planning and implementation of the cafeteria. The renovation will start on August 15, and the reopening will take place at the start of the semester on October 2, 2023.
Communityvoting: You Name It!
Together with the extended community of the Mozarteum University, we are looking for a name for the new cafeteria. In a brainstorm phase starting on August 21, name suggestions will be solicited via Instagram and Facebook, and the 5 suggestions with the most likes will be chosen as the winner in the final voting on www.moz.ac.at.
University members without their own social media accounts can send their name suggestions from August 21-31, 2023 to presse@moz.ac.at, they will then be posted vicariously from the University Mozarteum account.
Detailed information and conditions of participation will be available from August 21.
