Ö1 Talent Scholarship for Visual Arts 2023
The Ö1 Talent Scholarship for Visual Arts in the amount of 10,000 euros, provided by Wiener Städtische Versicherungsverein, is being offered for the 16th time this year. The prize is intended to promote young talent at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, the University of Applied Arts Vienna, the Linz University of Art and the Mozarteum University. Application deadline until 28.4.2023.
All students who meet the following criteria by the end of the submission period for the Ö1 Talent Scholarship for Visual Arts 2023 are eligible to apply:
- Applicants must be enrolled as regular students at one of the listed art universities.
- Applicants must already be in the second stage of their studies (old study regulations) or in the final phase of their Bachelor's or Master's studies.
- Students who receive one or more scholarships that exceed the total amount of 3,000 euros per year at the time of submission are excluded from the Ö1 Talent Scholarship for Visual Arts 2023 (with the exception of study grants from the study grant authority).
- Students who are in Austria as part of a student mobility program (ERASMUS, Joint Study, etc.) are excluded from participation.
Submission and deadline
The submission deadline for the Ö1 Talentestipendium für bildende Kunst 2023 begins on March 20, 2023 and ends on April 28, 2023. The submitted works are to be sent digitally to the internal submission addresses published by the four art universities
according to the notice published internal submission addresses as indicated in each case. The submitted documents must bear the note "Ö1 Talentestipendium für bildende Kunst 2023".
Publication
The publication for the Ö1 Talentestipendium für bildende Kunst 2023 takes place via:
- Posting at the above-mentioned art universities (including institutes) by the respective bodies of the art universities.
- Announcement on the websites or via newsletter of the four art universities, on oe1.ORF.at as well as on the websites of the Wiener Städtische Versicherungsverein and the Leopold Museum.
Application documents
The application must include:
- Completed and signed submission form. The form (PDF format) can be found on the website/newsletter of the respective art university.
- Photos/video stills of three works submitted to the jury. They must include "Jury" in the file name. The resolution of the photo material or stills must be 300 dpi, format: .jpg or .tif. Film, video and sound works must be uploaded to www.vimeo.com or www.youtube.com (access without password). The links must be provided with the respective work description.
A PDF file with the following contents (all texts must be written in German
language, according to valid German orthography):
- Biographical information (photo, education and information about previous artistic activities such as exhibitions, study trips, participation in competitions, etc.) according to the form requirements in the application form
- Short commentary on your own artistic work with a maximum of 500 characters (including spaces)
- Information on work projects during the term of the fellowship with a maximum of 500 characters (including spaces)
- Work descriptions of the three works that will be submitted. The descriptions must not exceed 500 characters (including spaces) per work. They must be preceded by a small photo/video still of the work and the following information: Title of the work, material, format, year of creation.
- In order to provide a comprehensive picture of one's artistic activity, a portfolio with photos of works and descriptions of other works must be included.
- Confirmation of the second stage of studies (1st diploma certificate)
- Confirmation of studies
- Only applications with complete information and documents,
- that meet the above criteria will be considered!
Expert jury
The independent jury of experts for the Ö1 Talent Scholarship for Visual Arts 2023 is composed of four external representatives of the above-mentioned art universities, two representatives of Ö1, two representatives of the Wiener Städtische, and two representatives of the Ö1 and one representative of the Leopold Museum.
Online voting
In addition to the jury's decision, the Ö1 audience will have the opportunity to choose a winner from all finalists. All artists and their works will be presented on the website oe1.orf.at, the public can vote online. Works by the audience winner will be exhibited at the award ceremony for the Ö1 Talent Scholarship 2023. In addition, the winner of the Audience Award will receive free participation in the participation in the ARTIST STATEMENT at PARALLEL
VIENNA in 2024.
Selection procedure
Each of the four art universities listed above will make a preliminary selection from the submissions received, from which up to three finalists per art university will be chosen. The pre-selection process at the art universities must be completed by June 2, 2023. The art universities will then notify those participants whom they have selected as finalists for the Ö1 Talent Fellowship for Visual Arts 2023.
