The Mozarteum University mourns the loss of an extraordinary educator, artist and colleague who was known for his discipline and openness, contributed much to the institution and remained connected to the university as a curious spirit even years after his retirement.

Born in Wroclaw, O.Univ.-Prof. Robert H. Pflanzl (14.09.1934-12.3.2023) was O.Univ.-Prof. for music-dramatic performance at the Mozarteum University - his alma mater, where he studied voice and piano - from 1976 to 2002.
In academic functions, he was head of the department of solo singing and musico-dramatic performance for nine years, involved as vice-chairman of the university board in the transformation of the university into the Mozarteum University, and was dean of studies for stage design, performing arts and singing until his retirement. For many years he worked as a director at leading European opera houses as well as in film and television.
We will always keep him in grateful and honorable memory.
