Saving energy - achieving more together!
In view of the general geopolitical situation, supply bottlenecks and the looming climate crisis, every opportunity must be taken to reduce our energy consumption. Any savings will help us to better manage cost increases and make a collective contribution to climate protection. The currently implemented or recommended measures are summarized below - we ask everyone to follow simple energy saving tips in their daily work. Thank you very much!

Reducing room temperature Heating has great savings potential
As far as possible, all our heating systems are centrally controlled and currently set to a target temperature of 20°C.
Please check whether the heating can be reduced further during longer absences. 1°C less results in 6% energy savings. The temperature should never be below 15°C.
Supplementary heaters such as electric radiant heaters are only to be used if they are provided by the facility management. Private devices are not permitted.
Air conditioners and fans
The cooling function of the air-conditioning units is centrally deactivated in the office rooms in winter. The recirculation function should be switched off at the room control.
Ventilation: ventilate intermittently instead of permanently tilting windows!
Tilting windows permanently causes the room to lose a lot of heat. Ventilating for five to ten minutes several times a day is more energy-efficient and prevents walls and furniture from cooling down. It therefore gets warm again more quickly and also avoids mould growth.
After using the room (e.g. after meetings or classes), make sure that the windows are closed when leaving the room.
Water: preferably use cold water
Soap also achieves its effect with cold water. Please use hot water at the washbasin only if necessary. When using a lever, make sure that it is set to cold water only.
Reduce electricity consumption small contributions add up
Lights off - Switch off the lights in the rooms when you leave.
Shut down - Switch off computers and monitors at the end of the working day.
Don't give standby mode a chance - use a power strip with a built-in off switch.
Fill up the dishwasher - use the maximum load and select economy programmes (such as ECO). This not only saves electricity, but also water.
Do not set refrigerators below 7°C - please switch off when not in use.
Defrost freezer compartments regularly - even a 1 cm thick layer of ice can increase electricity consumption by 10 to 15 percent.
General: Notes on lighting
Gradually switch over to LED lighting. Timer switches reduce the amount of lighting required. A legally prescribed level of illuminance guarantees safety on traffic and escape routes in standard operation. After midnight, motion detectors are active in the main building and are activated during patrols.
After room use, care must be taken to ensure that all lights are switched off.
Many thanks for every contribution to energy saving!
