Raimonda Žiūkaitė's Opera "Salt is My Heritage" is Stage Work of the Year

Raimonda Žiūkaitė 's opera composition "Salt is My Heritage" was chosen as the Work of the Year in the stage works category by the Lithuanian Composers' Union. The work was performed by Lidia Luciano (soprano), students of the Mozarteum University and the œnm conducted by Félix Marest. The premiere took place on October 28, 2021 as part of the Crossroads Festival. It was directed by Giulia Giammona and the libretto was written by Franz Jäger.
The composer completed her bachelor's and master's studies in composition at the LAMT with R. Kabelį, where she also earned her doctorate. From 2018 to 2020 she studied composition at the Mozarteum University with Achim Bornhöft and is currently continuing her studies in composition and experimental music theater at the Berlin University of the Arts. The composer not only writes academic music, she also performs her own works for voice and electronics, sings in choirs, played in rock bands and is active as a songwriter and solo artist.
