For those interested in pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Choral Conducting at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg starting in Fall 2025, a workshop and masterclass will be held in early January. These events will focus on the areas of choral conducting, piano/accompaniment, and music theory/aural skills.
The aim is to provide an introduction to the program and the Mozarteum University.
Opportunities for Participants:
- Active or Passive Participation in a Choral Conducting Masterclass
- Active participation is limited to 12 spots, while passive participation is unlimited.
- A studio choir will be available for the masterclass, which will be led by Prof. Jörn Andresen.
- Tips for Preparing for the Admission Exams in Aural Skills and Music Theory
- Participants can also take a mock exam.
- Guidance for the Piano/Accompaniment Admission Exam
- Work individually with one of the accompaniment instructors
- Prepare a short scene from an opera or oratorio to play and, ideally, sing along with
- Free Admission to a Concert
- Enjoy a concert by the Departments of Choral Conducting and Early Music in the Grand Hall of the Mozarteum.

- Mock exam in music theory and aural skills.
- 2:00 PM (Room 2049)
- Introduction to piano/accompaniment (led by Werner Lemberg and Markus Oppeneiger).
- 2:15–6:00 PM
- Performance opportunities and 15-minute individual sessions with Werner and Markus (up to 20 participants).
- For the accompaniment session, please prepare a short scene from an opera or oratorio that involves singing and playing.
Sunday, January 19, 2025

- Presentation of the program (led by Prof. Jörn Andresen).
- 10:30 AM–1:00 PM and 2:00–4:00 PM
- Masterclass in choral conducting with a studio choir.
- Up to 12 active participants; passive participants (including choir members) are welcome.
Three works selected for the masterclass, and details will be sent upon registration.
