Erika Frieser Chamber Music Days 2022
Sun. 4.12.2022—Mon. 5.12.2022
The Erika Frieser Chamber Music Days are primarily dedicated to the compositional work of women throughout the centuries. The festival is named after Erika Frieser (1927-2011), who was the first woman to hold a professorship for piano chamber music, vocal and instrumental accompaniment at the Mozarteum University. Works by Lili Boulanger, Georges Auric, Germaine Tailleferre, Ethel Smyth, Maria Bach, Mel Bonis, Angela Tröndle and Louise Farrenc will be interpreted by teachers and students of the Mozarteum University as well as Stefan Mendl (Vienna Piano Trio / mdw).
Artistic director: Biliana Tzinlikova
Moderation: Iris Mangeng Following the enormous positive response to the Erika Frieser Chamber Music Days in May 2021, the festival will continue this year with three concerts featuring duos, trios and quartets.

Erika Frieser (1927-2011), the project's namesake, served as professor of piano and chamber music at the Mozarteum from 1973 to 1995. in 1946, the first prize winner in the Radio Frankfurt competition made her debut at the Salzburg Festival with the Vienna Philharmonic under Erneste Ansermet. In addition to her many appearances as a soloist under renowned conductors such as Clemens Krauss and Othmar Suitner, Frieser devoted herself more and more to chamber music: for example, as a member of the "Vienna Trio" with Beatrice Reichert and Christa Richter-Steiner, as a long-standing duo partner of Gerhard Mantel, or as a pianist in the "Beethoven Trio" with Rudolf Koeckert and Gerhard Mantel.
