University Council

The University Council is one of the three governing collegial bodies of the Mozarteum University Salzburg, along with the Chancellor's Office and the Senate. Its members may not be university members or employees of the university and may not be employees of the Federal Ministry responsible for university affairs.

Two of its five members are elected by the Senate of the Mozarteum University and two are nominated by the Federal Government (Federal Ministry of Science and Research). These four members shall appoint the fifth member of the University Council by mutual agreement within the framework of the constituent meeting, whose term of office shall be limited to five years in each case.

The main tasks of the University Council include the election of the Rector and the election of the Vice-Rectors. It is responsible for approving the development plan and the organisation plan. The tasks of the University Council are regulated in §21 of the Universities Act 2002.
