Martin A. Fuchsberger was born in Salzburg and completed his studies (horn, singing, church music, orchestral conducting) at the Mozarteum University Salzburg and the University for Music and Performing Arts in Vienna as well as the Vienna University Conservatory. His first engagements took him to the Schauspielhaus Wien, to the Johann Strauss Operette Wien, to the Herbsttage at Blindenmarkt and to the Schönbrunn Music Theater.
In 2004 Fuchsberger received the special award at the 3rd International Competition for young choir directors and in 2005 the Erwin Ortner Prize for the promotion of choral music and directed radio recordings with the RSO Bratislava. In 2009 Fuchsberger was guest conductor of the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra in South Africa, worked as choir director and conductor of the Lehár Festival in Bad Ischl, was second conductor at the Burgarena Festival in Reinsberg and directed the premiere of the visualized Linz sound cloud as part of Linz09. Fuchsberger has been a guest conductor of the Bad Reichenhall Philharmonic with a variety of concerts and special programs since 2009 and works with the artist Lea Anders.
From 2009 to 2016 he was also responsible for the Salzburg University Orchestra and from 2010 to 2014 he was artistic director of the Salzburg Chamber Choir. Parallel invitations to guest conductors, among others with the Landesblasorchester Salzburg and the district wind orchestras in Lungau, Pinzgau and Flachgau.
Fuchsberger has been a lecturer in brass orchestra conducting at the Mozarteum University Salzburg since 2011, where he has also been teaching solfeggio and rhythm training since 2013. He was also conducting various world premieres at the Mozarteum University Salzburg. 2018 successful habilitation for wind orchestra conductor. Since 2019 he is head of the new part-time university course for wind orchestra conducting.
2015 he founded the the vocal and instrumental ensemble “Neue Männerstimmen” and the folk music ensemble “Einfach g’tIMMt”, the chamber music ensemble Varibrass (2018 and 2019 dialogues of the Mozarteum Foundation) and the formation “Varisound”. This was followed by the interim management of the "Eisenbahner Musikverein Salzburg" and for three years he was training manager for Kapellmeister in the Salzburg region. 2016 he worked as a guest conductor with the "Lebanese Philharmonic Orchestra" in Beirut, Lebanon. 2017 he was invited as a speaker to the Hamburg Voice Symposium and to PEVoC12 in Ghent, Belgium. Martin Fuchsberger has directed the New Year's concerts of the Sinfonietta St. Johann im Pongau since 2018.
In autumn 2019, Fuchsberger was appointed to the Gustav Mahler Private University for Music in Klagenfurt as a new teacher for orchestral conducting, including artistic direction of the university's symphony orchestra (debut concert in February 2020). Fuchsberger has also been a guest conductor with the Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra in South Korea since January 2020.
