The German-Swiss soprano Sabina Martin, who was born in Naples and later grew up in Ulm, began her vocal studies with Charlotte Lehmann in Würzburg, later with Gyögyi Kovacs in Düsseldorf and got her concert and pedagogy diploma with Kurt Widmer in Basel.

She made her stage debut in the role of Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro). She sang baroque roles such as Calisto (title role), Poppea (title role), Euridice (L'anima del filosofo), numerous lyrical soprano and lyrical-dramatic coloratura soprano roles such as Gilda (Rigoletto), Lucia di Lammermoor (title role), Konstanze (Abduction from the Seraglio ), Pamina (The Magic Flute), Micaela (Carmen), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Luisa Miller (title role), Violetta (La Traviata), Olympia, Antonia, Giulietta, Stella (Les contes d'Hoffmann) as well as youthful-dramatic roles like Louise (Title role), Rusalka (title role) and Armide (title role), Leonora (Il Trovatore), Leonore (Fidelio), Elsa (Lohengrin) and Emilia Marty (The Makropulos case). She has also made a name for herself in the modern and contemporary repertoire. She sang Alban Berg’s Lulu (title role) and Marie (Wozzeck), Blanche (Endstation Sehnsucht) and in Bregenz the world premiere of Paradies or Nach Eden by Nana Forte and in Bologna a performance of Medeamaterial (Benda, Dusapin).

Guest and permanent engagements have taken her to the Schwetzingen Festival, the Festival de Montpellier, the Wiener Festwochen, the Heidenheim Palace Festival, the Schönbrunn Palace Festival, the Odeon of Herodes Atticus Athens, the Komische Oper, the State Theaters in Darmstadt, Schwerin and Cottbus, the Wuppertal Theaters, the Theaters in Biel, Solothurn Altenburg/Gera, Lübeck, Meiningen, Osnabrück, Ulm and the Landestheater Detmold, Coburg, Eisenach and Flensburg. In the concert sector, she is in demand in a wide range of repertoire at home and abroad.

She has worked with numerous well-known directors and conductors, including Achim Freyer, Georges Delnon, Philipp Stölzl, Martin Schüler, Vera Nemirova, Tatjana Gürbaca, Sandra Leupold, Mikijel Dijekema, Aron Stiehl, Lorenzo Fioroni, Jochen Biganzoli, Alexander von Pfeil, Andreas Baesler, Jan-Richard Kehl, Thilo Reinhardt, Eva-Maria Höckayr and with Armin Jordan, Christoph Spering, Marcus Bosch, Will Humburg, Gabriel Feltz, Tetsuro Ban and Mihkel Kütson.

Sabina Martin has been teaching singing at the Pre College of the Mozarteum University Salzburg since 2019.
