Stefan Müller was born in Weimar and studied conducting at the University of Music in Dresden and was taught by Christoph Sandmann in orchestra conducting and Matthias Geissler in choir conducting. He tool part in master classes with well-known artists such as Sir Colin Davis and Rolf Reuter. After an engagement as a repetiteur with a conductor's obligation, he was appointed choir director and conductor at the Theater Plauen-Zwickau. There he directed musical productions such as Evita and My fair Lady and conducted the operas Der Freischütz, Die Zauberflöte and Die lustige Weiber von Windsor. He has been choir director at the Salzburg State Theater since the 2010/2011 season.
