    Sarah Nemtsov receives the Heidelberger Künstlerinnenpreis 2025 

    Sarah Nemtsov, renowned composer and university professor of composition at the Mozarteum University, will receive the Heidelberger Künstlerinnenpreis 2025 for her outstanding contributions to contemporary music. The prize, which has been endowed with 10,000 euros since 2025, is one of the most important cultural prizes in Germany and is the only prize in the world to be awarded exclusively to female composers.

    The Institute for Equality & Gender Studies honours outstanding student theses and qualification projects that correspond to the understanding of a scientific/artistic examination in the fields of Gender & Queer Studies, Advanced Feminism and/or Diversity Studies with the GenDivers prizes. On 8 May 2024, the GenDivers Awards 2023 were presented as part of the exhibition opening "(UN)GESEHEN: des Blicks Verlernen" - the winners are Cat Jugravu, Johanna Mayerhofer and Dustin Waskow. Congratulations to them!

    Falstaff - A perfect comedy 

    On 15 May, Giuseppe Verdi's last opera Falstaff celebrates its premiere under the musical direction of Kai Röhrig and directed by Florentine Klepper. The two artists provide exciting insights into the production and its creation in a double interview.

    Students from the Mozarteum University perform Verdi's late comedy - his legacy about the vices and weaknesses of mankind, at the end of which the old composer takes a step back, doffs his black hat and watches the floundering characters struggle for the last remnants of their dignity.

    Concorso
    Concorso Hindemith / Mainardi
    The Concorso Hindemith / Mainardi for viola and violoncello takes place every two years at the Mozarteum University. The competition is aimed at students of the Department of String & Plucked Instruments.
